BCal Flight Deck & Cabin Crew Reunion
Friday 27th September 2024
This year’s BCal Flight Deck and Cabin Crew Annual Reunion is to be held, as usual, on the last Friday in September. That is Friday 27 September 2024. Tickets go on sale on 17 July.
The venue is the usual one of the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Crawley.
This year we are reverting to an evening event. Last year, when we tried an afternoon event for the first time, it was not as well supported as previous years’ reunions.
Last year we tried a ‘Finger Buffet’ instead of the traditional ‘Four Continents’ three-course dinner. The change in catering to a simpler meal was well received so we are trying the Finger Buffet again this year. We have managed to hold the ticket price to £30, the same as last year, despite price inflation. Dessert, tea and coffee are included in the ticket price, as is parking. There will be a pay bar, as usual. There will be more than enough tables and chairs to accommodate everyone.
The start time is 6:30pm, with the food being served at 7:30pm.
There are a limited number of hotel rooms available at a discounted price for attendees of the reunion. Contact the reunion committee on [email protected] if you want further details.
An email was sent out to everyone on the reunion emailing list on 6 June with an attached document which gave details of how to buy tickets. If you didn’t receive this, or couldn’t open the attachment, then please send an email to [email protected] asking for the details.
The reunion committee are concerned that it is difficult for us to advertise the annual reunion to all those former BCal Flight Deck and Cabin Crew who are not on our emailing list. We would like to acknowledge the help given to us in publicising the reunion by Dave Thaxter, who runs the excellent www.british-caledonian.com website as well as a Facebook group called ‘The British Caledonian Group’. Dave kindly includes a reference to our reunion in his twice-monthly ‘Staff Newsletter’ email that can be subscribed to by contacting him by email on [email protected].
We periodically post details of the reunion on the other three BCal Facebook groups, which are: ‘BCal Family’, ‘British Caledonian Airways’, and ‘BCalReunited. BCal/BUA’. However, because these posts are usually only visible for a short period of time, it is better to periodically check our website and, best of all, to ask us to add your email address to our emailing list.
Please pass on details of our www.bcalreunion.org website to any of your former BCal crew colleagues that you are still in contact with and who you think may be interested in attending the annual reunion.
Many of those people who are on our emailing list must have changed their email address because there were many ‘undelivered’ messages returned to us. The three-year gap after the 2019 reunion caused by the pandemic didn’t help.
To check whether you are on our emailing list, look for an email that was sent out on 6 June 2024 with an attachment giving details of how to buy tickets for this year’s reunion. It came from [email protected] with the subject of: ‘BCAL REUNION 2024’. If you haven’t received this email, then (after checking it isn’t in your junk folder) send an email to us at: [email protected] and ask to be added to the emailing list. You will then be sent details of this year’s and also future reunions.
We look forward to seeing you on Friday 27 September 2024.
The reunion committee:
Jeanette Smith/Clark, Phil Benson, Karen Banfield/Strawson and Angie Marr
